Three miles in 91 degrees with a feels-like temperature of 105.

I wanted more distance, but that kind of heat changes the deal. Pushed the second mile, backed off on the last one, got home, got hydrated, and recovered.

The road still got handled.

Breakfast down. Coffee poured.

Tuesday’s Discipline Dispatch is live, and tomorrow’s article is ready to go before I head into night two.

A little work handled early makes the rest of the day move cleaner.

Integrity is not your reputation.

It is what you do when no one is watching, when the shortcut is available, and when you could lower the standard without anyone else knowing.

That is where you find out whether your word actually means something.

First night of the long week is almost done.

The jail got quiet after lockdown. Just watch tours, time moving slow, and the finish line getting closer.

Ready to go home, pet the cats, and sleep.

More than halfway through night one, I got some armor work in at the jail gym.

Five-minute treadmill warmup. Pullups. Rows. Lateral raises. Overhead extensions. Situps.

The shift does not get to take the whole day.

Eleven years ago, I was 305 pounds and deep in addiction.

Now I am almost 50, sober, running, lifting, riding, working, building, and trying to keep this machine maintained well enough to keep showing up for the people and life I fought to get back.

That did not happen because I found one magic answer.

It happened because I stopped going backward and kept rebuilding.

Recovery is not supposed to stay the entire center of your life forever.

At first, you have to repair. You have to protect the baseline. You have to learn how to stop destroying yourself.

But eventually, the work should give you room to build again.

More living. More purpose. More family. More health. More useful work.

That is the point.

Got tomorrow morning’s Recovery Standard ready before bed.

Long week starts tomorrow night, so having Monday’s work handled now gives me one less thing competing for space.

That is enough for tonight. Time to sleep.

Took Kelly and the boys out for dinner, then got out on the bike alone for 13.44 miles.

Nothing hard. Just steady movement, some air, and a little space in my own head after a full day.

Still moving.
