Today had a lot in it, and most of it already got its own post.

The run was ugly. The workout was smarter. The article went live. The ride happened. The food was good. Time with Kelly mattered. The sites feel right. The work keeps moving.

That is the part I want to remember.

Some days are not one big thing. They are a bunch of smaller things that somehow stack into something solid by the end.

Today was one of those.

Now the laptop is closing, the cats are on night shift, and I am going to bed with the day handled.

Full day. Good day. Work done.

I posted a new article on JimLunsford.com:

Why I Built Bonumark Stream

This one explains the reason behind the project. Bonumark Stream did not start because I wanted another app to maintain. It started because I wanted a place for short thoughts, photos, links, project updates, and daily notes that actually belonged to me.

Not a rented feed. Not an algorithm. Not another profile on someone else’s platform.

My own stream, on my own site, under my control.

That is the whole point.

Short posts should not have to be disposable just because they are short. A quick note can still have a URL. A photo can still belong to your archive. A thought can still live somewhere you own.

That is why I built it.

Apparently Olive Garden pasta comes with a side of guilt.

Kelly and I went there after her uncle’s showing, and it was good. I do not eat pasta much, but tonight I did, and I enjoyed it.

Then later I went for an easy bike ride because that is what my brain decided needed to happen.

9.14 miles. Very light effort. Garmin called it recovery work, which is probably fair. It was not punishment. It was just movement, air, and a way to settle the day down.

I even earned the “I am the Night” badge for recording an activity between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.

That tracks.

Pasta eaten. Ride done. Night badge earned.

Followed the ugly run with a smarter workout.

Sit-ups, pull-ups stopped short of failure, push-ups straight into planks, light high-rep arm work, and heavy farmer carries.

Nothing fancy.

The legs already told me what they had today, so I listened enough to avoid being stupid, but still got the work in.

Ugly run. Smart lift. Proof created.

Today’s run was ugly.

3.12 miles at a 9:11 pace, but my legs felt like cement the whole time. Garmin can call it tempo work if it wants. I call it dragging concrete around Columbus.

Still got it done.

Not every run feels strong. Some runs are just proof that I showed up anyway.

Today ended up being full in a good way.

Earlier parts of the day already got their own posts, so this is the part I do not want to skip over: Kelly and I actually got some time to ourselves.

After my run, I showered and we went to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. Just her and me for once. No house noise, no dogs, no cats, no grandkids pulling us in five directions. Just a little time together, and I needed that more than I realized.

After that, we went to Sam’s Club and bought meat in bulk so I can meal prep tomorrow for my Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts. Not exciting, but that is the kind of setup work that keeps the harder days from becoming harder than they need to be.

Later, after my strength session, Kelly and I sat outside on the lawn and talked for a bit. Nothing dramatic. Just quiet time, which sometimes matters more than the big stuff.

I finished the night by playing a little Battlefield 6 in the bedroom while she wound down, then I came back out, opened the laptop one more time, and upgraded jimlunsford.net and demo.bonumark.org to the latest version of Bonumark Stream.

That felt like the right way to close the loop.

The code is not just sitting in a release somewhere. It is running on my sites.

Today had work, training, food prep, time with Kelly, and a live upgrade to the system that powers my microblog.

Full day. Good day.

Now the laptop is shutting down, and I am going to read for a bit before bed.

I have to say, this latest release of Bonumark Stream feels like the best version so far.

The core is cleaner, the direction is sharper, and the whole thing feels more like what I wanted it to be from the beginning. I also tweaked the personal theme I use here, and that made the site feel even better.

I’m not saying that to brag.

I’m saying it because there is a specific kind of satisfaction that comes from putting in the work, fixing what bothered you, tightening the details, and finally looking at it like, yeah, that’s better.

That is a good feeling.

Today was one of those days where the work did not look like miles or reps.

I woke up early after short sleep because someone in the house decided my sleep was optional. I stayed in the bedroom for a bit so I did not come out in full Hulk mode. That was probably best for everyone involved.

After breakfast, I tried to conserve energy. I sat with the laptop, Milo nearby doing Milo things, and kept working on JimLunsford.com. I ended up taking comp time and only working a half shift at the jail, which was the right move after the way the day started.

I planned to run before work, but I did not.

I planned to train, but I did not.

I felt guilty about that, because of course I did. Running and training are part of how I create proof. They remind me I am still the man I rebuilt. But today did not give me that kind of proof. Today gave me a different kind.

I used the quiet part of my shift to keep working on JimLunsford.com, and I think the site finally feels right. Not a doctrine machine. Not a recovery funnel. Not a narrow public role I have to perform.

More like this is Jim Lunsford, this is what he does, this is what he builds, and here is where to go next.

That feels better.

I also spent some time thinking about how JimLunsford.com and JimLunsford.net fit together. The main site is the permanent home. The microblog is the living stream. And the microblog is truly mine now because it runs on Bonumark Stream.

That matters more than people probably understand.

I am tired of renting my identity from platforms. I am tired of my work living under someone else’s rules. So I am building my own tools, using them myself, fixing the problems I run into, and sharing the path with whoever wants it.

Same pattern as always.

Find the problem. Live the solution. Build the proof. Share the path.

No run today. No workout today. Still not a wasted day.

The work just moved somewhere else.
