Got 6 hours and 17 minutes of sleep after a work shift, which is rare for me.

Breakfast is done, coffee is happening, and today is a full rest day. No run before work. No strength session during shift.

After the way my body felt yesterday, that is the right call.

Tomorrow is a day off, and I want the workout to actually count.

Near the end of the shift now.

I’m tired and ready to go home. Blu is usually waiting at the door, and Milo comes running as soon as I walk in.

One more shift after this, then I get two days with my family.

That is the part I’m holding onto tonight.

Got a workout in during shift, but the strength was not there tonight.

Short sleep, a hot run earlier, and a long stretch of training finally caught up. Pull-ups dropped hard, squat form got sloppy, and that was enough information for me.

I still got work in, but I also stopped before pride turned it into something stupid.

Sometimes discipline is pushing.

Sometimes discipline is knowing the session already told you the truth.

Night shift settled into watch tours, so I used the quiet window to keep building.

Bonumark Publishing is through another clean-break install, the private RSS reader is running, and Capsarium is back on my radar because I need my own people database.

Some tools start simple.

They just need to solve the problem in front of me.

Short sleep after night shift, breakfast, coffee, some Bonumark Publishing work, and a hot 3-mile run.

I also started building a small RSS reader because I couldn’t find one I liked.

That is usually how these things start with me. I find a problem, get annoyed enough, then build my own solution.

Almost at the end of the shift.

Today was one of those days where the laptop stayed mostly in its place. I did a few site tweaks early, then the rest of the day was meal prep, a run before work, the job, watching out for the guys on shift, and getting a short lift in when the night finally slowed down.

Not a flashy day.

Just a handled day.

That counts.

The shift was active enough that I did not think I was going to get a workout in tonight.

The county was busy, and I did not want to leave the other guys alone if road officers brought someone in. Experience matters, and even if I am not a supervisor, I still feel responsible for watching out for the people I work with.

Eventually things slowed down enough to get a short lift in.

Six-minute treadmill warmup, bench press, rows, lateral raises, rear delts, and situps. Nothing extra, just what I had time for.

Work came first. Training still happened.

That is a good balance.

Work update from tonight.

I shadowed another officer on an inmate transport from our jail to another county jail to make sure he knew the process and could handle it correctly.

He did well.

Everything was handled the way it should be handled, from the jail side to the handoff. No drama. No issues. Just someone doing the job right.

That is always good to see.

Meals are prepped for the long work weekend.

Not exciting, but necessary. That is the boring part of discipline that makes the harder parts easier.

After that, I got the run in.

3.01 miles at an 8:44 pace in the heat. Garmin called it tempo work again, which seems to be the theme lately.

Meals prepped. Run done. Proof created.

Now I can head into the weekend with one less thing chasing me.

Breakfast is in. Coffee did its job.

I spent coffee time tweaking a few things on the Proof theme for JimLunsford.com, just cleaning up stuff that was still bothering me after last night.

Now it is time for the boring part: meal prep before the long work weekend.

Discipline is boring, but it is freedom.
