Play time is over. Back to the jail tomorrow.

At least I’ll be on mid shift instead of nights, which is a definite improvement.

I’m still looking to get out of the jail and into something better suited to my skill set. Until then, I’ll keep doing the job and keep looking for the next move.

A day off apparently just means nobody is currently paying me to work.

I still have websites to mess with, Bonumark Stream to improve, something around the house that needs done, and probably a run somewhere in there.

Very relaxing.

Took Kelly out to Yummy Bowl for her birthday, a Mongolian stir fry and sushi place.

About an hour after dinner, I decided going for a run sounded like a good idea.

Turns out Mongolian food, heat, and running are not a great combination. About 3.5 miles in, I was seriously questioning that decision and trying not to hurl.

Still got 4.2 miles logged. 🤣

I moved Phoenix233.com and DisciplinedRecovery.com off shared hosting and onto my VPS.

Both are now static Nginx sites, with WordPress.com handling DNS and Let’s Encrypt handling HTTPS.

Disciplined Recovery was the trickier move because its email still lives on the old host. That meant separating web and mail DNS, catching a DKIM copy error, verifying redirects, and testing real mail delivery.

Web moved. Mail stayed. Everything works.

I’m ready to upgrade from my Pixel 10, and I’ve narrowed it down to two options:

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra or Pixel 11 Pro XL

I’ve been on Pixel phones for years, so part of me wants to stay with what I know. But the S26 Ultra has me seriously considering a switch.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

Bonumark Stream worked on my old hosting, but moving it to a hardened VPS exposed assumptions that should not have been there.

Routing, writable paths, Nginx, imports, upgrades, and hosting permissions all had to be reconsidered.

Instead of weakening the server to fit the software, I changed Bonumark Stream to better understand the environment it runs in.

I got tired of social media platforms deciding how my stuff should work, so I built Bonumark Stream.

Now instead of complaining about somebody else’s software, I get to find bugs in mine.

This is apparently what I wanted.

Spent the last 24 hours hardening Bonumark Stream for different hosting environments.

A real deployment exposed assumptions around routing, import staging, writable paths, Nginx, and upgrades.

Instead of weakening the hosting security model, I changed the product.

Bonumark Stream now understands locked-down installs, ships with tested Nginx support, checks hosting capabilities, and supports owner-run CLI upgrades.

I’m planning to get a GitHub release out this weekend with these changes.

Thanks to my lovely inability to sleep during the day when I work nights, I’ve gotten less than eight hours of sleep over the last two days.

So I’m turning lemons into lemonade and working pretty hard on Bonumark Stream since my physical energy is low.

I might jump on the bike later and at least get some exercise in.
