Garrett turned 10 today.

Double digits.

I still remember when he was little enough that 10 felt a long way off, and now here he is growing into his own person right in front of us.

Being his grandpa is one of the best parts of my life.

Happy birthday, Garrett. I love you, buddy.

Two miles tonight.

Not because I couldn’t do more, but because we’re under a heat warning and wisdom matters more than ego.

Some days the win is pushing harder.

Some days the win is knowing when not to.

One mistake does not have to become ten.

That only happens when you turn imperfection into permission.

You missed the standard. Fine. Own it, correct it, and return.

The goal was never perfection.

It was repair.

No run today.

Three straight days in brutal heat caught up with me, and today is supposed to be the hottest one yet.

Discipline is not forcing effort just to say you did it.

Sometimes it is knowing when to let the work settle.

June is in the books.

25 runs. 93 miles. A 9:05 average pace. Three rides.

More miles than May. One more run. A little faster too.

Night shifts, heat, family, writing, life.

Still got the work in.

95 degrees. Feels like 106.

Today was a fight. The first two miles moved. The last one turned into a grind.

Still got three miles and some honest movement in.

Every time you give yourself your word and break it without correction, it gets lighter.

Eventually, you stop believing your own speeches. Plans feel hollow. Tomorrow becomes another excuse you have already heard before.

Self-trust is not rebuilt by declaring change.

It is rebuilt when pressure shows up, and you keep one meaningful promise anyway.

Night two is almost done.

Slow shift. Quiet jail. Long hours.

But I spent part of it building a better system for keeping track of the things that matter, my work, my projects, my writing, and the life behind all of it.

Now it is time to go home, see the cats, and shut the day down.

I have spent a lot of time trying to build an actual ongoing conversation with AI.

Not just a tool that remembers random facts about me, but something that can understand the context behind what I am saying without making me repeat my life every day.

The frustrating part is that the information can be there and still not get used.

I am not looking for fake empathy or generic advice. I am looking for continuity.

There has to be a better way to make these systems actually use the history they are given instead of treating every message like it exists by itself.
