I took Kelly and the boys to Hardy Lake today, a place I remember from my own childhood.

I showed them the parts I still remembered, then watched them play on the beach while Kelly and I sat nearby. After that, we drove to Clifty Falls State Park, walked a trail, and ate dinner at the hotel.

On the way home, the boys thanked us for taking them and said they had a good time.

That meant a lot to me.

It was not some huge trip or perfectly planned day. It was just time together, a place from my past, and a new memory for them.

Hard days are not when your standards stop applying.

They are why you built them.

You do not need perfection. You need to protect the line, do the next right thing, and refuse to let pressure turn you back into someone you already fought to leave behind.

Good day off.

I got a run in, spent some time on the bike, changed the oil in my truck, power washed the bed, and gave the whole truck a wash.

I also spent time off and on getting Cypher to import my posts from JimLunsford.net. There is still work to do, but it moved forward.

The best part of the day was dinner at the table with Kelly and the boys.

Now I am shutting down the computer, playing some Pokémon Red, and watching a little Yellowstone before bed.

Tomorrow starts two days of firearms training, so tonight is about enjoying the quiet before getting back to work.

I upgraded Cypher so it can import and search the posts I have published through Bonumark Stream on JimLunsford.net.

The import was the easy part.

The real work was getting retrieval to behave correctly. Exact searches, date ranges, source-only requests, and negative searches kept exposing problems in the routing and validation. Fixing one failure at a time was not proving the system worked. It was only proving I could patch the last thing that broke.

So I changed the test.

I restored a full backup, loaded the real 381-post archive, and built an eight-prompt acceptance suite designed to test the different ways I will actually search that content.

That gave me something individual bug fixes could not.

A repeatable standard for whether retrieval is working across the archive, not just whether one prompt happens to pass.

Trust is not gone forever.

But it does not come back because you want it back. It does not come back because you explain yourself better. It does not come back because you are tired of being judged by the old version of you.

It comes back through proof.

One kept promise. One corrected pattern. One honest action at a time.

Like I said yesterday, I am working on a book this week.

What I forgot was how close it already was to being finished.

After some editing, a few final tweaks, and one last review, I should have a proof copy on the way by Thursday.

I have spent so much time focused on Bonumark Stream and Cypher that the book kept getting pushed aside. Turns out, it did not need weeks of work.

It just needed me to finish it.

Urgent is expensive.

By the time everything feels like an emergency, the margin is already gone.

That is why recovery has to protect the basics before life starts yelling.

Sleep. Structure. Environment. Honesty. Standards. The people and routines that keep you steady.

I put a lot of work into Cypher this weekend, and it is still making mistakes that it should not be making.

At some point, I have to question whether the time investment is still paying off. I am not abandoning it, but I think Cypher needs less of my attention this week.

The bigger priority is finishing the book I have been putting off and getting it published on Amazon. I kept pushing it aside while I focused on Bonumark Stream, then Cypher took over most of my available project time.

That needs corrected.

Bonumark Stream still moved forward today. I published a new release on GitHub, and Local Places has quickly become my favorite feature. It works now, but I already have more planned for it. I may keep improving it this week when time allows.

The book comes first, though.

Not every project needs more attention just because it is demanding it. Sometimes progress means deciding which work deserves the next block of time.
